Post-election message to USA from Vanessa in Mexico

"Well done U.S.A!!! You wanted to free yourselves from terrorism?? Well it looks like you will have it for 4 more years!Specially by having the number one terrorist in the world...Bush! We actually thought you were going to be a little more conscious about this matter, but it looks like you dont care about having a president who has killed 100.000 Iraquies, let me remind you that they did not attack your country! Bush only wants what is good for himself and that's oil and to have more power over the world. And don't tell us to mind our own business, this concern us, your country has always looked for a reason to invade countries in order to have more power in the world."

What is your opinion? Earth to America is still open... Americans also welcome!

From Richard in Australia: Fix your Election System!

Dear America,

Your efforts to bring "democracy" to a somewhat reluctant world may be somewhat better received if you were to have a real democracy at home. Your media has been full of stories about possible problems with the ballot; not to mention the real problems last time. Can't you get your act together sufficiently to have a non-controversial, fair ballot? A federal electoral roll and federally conducted elections run by civil servants not party hacks would be a good starting point. It works like magic in our part of the world. Try it. You'll like it and it will then let you concentrate on policy formation and considered debate instead of wasteful litigation. And give credibility to the outcome.

Please turn your minds to this issue as soon as the dust has settled on the current election.

Dear America by Christopher Rootes (U.K.)

Dear America,

What happens as a result of these elections will affect the futures of all humankind. American voters have an awesome responsibility. Immediately after 9/11, we felt a tremendous sense of solidarity with the people of the US, but the subsequent actions of the Bush administration have dismayed us. We desperately needs a more just, peaceful and environmentally sustainable world order, and the key lies in the choices of American voters. Please do not disappoint us.

Earth to America by Diarmuid Dalton (Ireland)

To whom it may concern, I am writing this in the hope that at least one person will read it and possibly change their mind on who should shepperd their great country into the future...

To a lot of people the world trade centre tragedy was destined to happen, or something like it. I certainly do not condone it. I lived in n.y. when it happened. I saw them both crumble, and I saw the incredulous fear in the everyday American's eyes...

Yours is a young and great country but if you choose to ignore your foregin policy and elect money hungry war mongers with the personality of an oil well, then don't be so surprised when the fight is brought to your doorstep.

Think of the big picture and i dont mean the one with Mexico and Canada in it.

Yours peacefully,
Diarmuid Dalton

A touch of Canadian humour

Dear America,

Give your Canadian pals a break and stay home on election day. Because if you do, Bush will get in, there will be more wars, and Canada will once again welcome some of your best and brightest into our intellectual community. Canadians just love American intellectuals! I can't begin to tell you how much we appreciated staffing our university system with brilliant Ph.D.s from Harvard, Yale, and UCLA during the Vietnam war. Since the onset of the present Bush wars, we have recieved a whole new batch of great American thinkers. So, please don't vote and let us Canadians keep enjoying your country's brain-drain.

Your cooperation is much appreciated,
Diana Relke
Professor

Earth to America by Mandy Evans Ewing in Scotland

Dear U.S. Voters,

In peace and with love I am writing to encourage Americans to vote in the November elections, I am asking you to vote for candidates that will protect the global environment and human rights and create a more peaceful, secure world, the results of the US Presidential and Congressional elections—and the policies that will follow—will directly affect my life and where I live. We all know, when we move beyond denial, that everything is interconnected in this life and we must take cogniscance of and responsibility for that in all our actions.

Earth to America by Peter Merry (The Netherlands)

Dear America,

One of the most worrying things I see in Europe at the moment is the anti-American sentiment - not only for the negative energy which it creates but for the way it allows us off the hook in terms of taking responsibility ourselves for our own actions and politics.

We need America in its authentic freedom and wholeness, to help us through the coming storms. I just hope that all those who really sense the role America could play for the good of the whole get out to vote for the candidate they think can best deliver that.
