America's Promise

Can the United States see its Latin American neighbours as equals? In the eighth of openDemocracy's Letters to Americans series, the Bolivian labour and anti–privatisation organiser Oscar Olivera writes to Jim Schultz, author of The Democracy Owners’ Manual.

Olivera: "Against the world, against the people, against life: that is what the United States means to me."
Schultz: "America is a promise: one of the most glorious a nation has ever made."

Read their knockout letters, and join the discussion.
